My research interests are related to the cognitive health of the elderly population. By leading studies on normal and pathological aging, I gained expertise in the field of cognitive stimulation in aging, used as prevention or non-pharmacologic intervention in age-related cognitive decline and dementia. I am specifically interested in the concept of Cognitive reserve and cerebral plasticity, and with the possibility of reinforcing some cognitive processes and brain networks through appropriate training of mnemonic and attentional abilities. I also study the effect of music practice on cerebral plasticity and for its protective effect against aging-related cognitive decline, as well as the effect of other activities such as learning a second language and playing videogames that are specifically designed to train attention and executive functions.
