Study on infant-directed singing - Chinese participants needed!
For this study, we are looking for participants who are Chinese (recent immigrant or foreign students) and who have been living in Quebec for no more than 5 years. Participants should also be able to understand either English or French.
The research project in which you are invited to participate aims to study infant-directed singing. When a mother sings to her baby, her vocal performance is different to her usual way of singing. In addition, through singing, a mother conveys a variety of intentions; she can try to lull her baby to sleep or play with him. The long term objective is to determine whether these intentions are universal.
In this study, you will be asked to listen to a series of audio excerpts, identify those excerpts you believe are aimed at infants, and finally identify, between two possible choices, the intention conveyed by the singer (lull a baby to sleep or play with him). The estimated length of the study is approximately 45 minutes.
We remind you that for this study, we are looking for participants who are Chinese (recent immigrant or foreign students) and who have been living in Quebec for no more than 5 years. Participants should also be able to understand either English or French.
