A new PhD position in spatial hearing available at BRAMS

One PhD student position is available in Marc Schoenwiesner’s lab at BRAMS, Université de Montreal, to investigate experience-dependent brain plasticity in the human auditory system.

This NSERC-funded research is highly interdisciplinary, encompassing psychological research, technological development, and health-related applications.

Qualifications

Applicants should hold a M.Sc. in experimental psychology (in special cases a M.Sc. in a field related to the research outlined above may be admissible) with a grade average of at least 3.3. Good computer skills are a plus. The successful applicant will be expected to develop novel experimental tests for investigating auditory spatial perception in complex environments using an 80-channel 3D sound stimulation set-up and miniaturized real-time digital signal processing devices.

Prospects

Work directly with the PI in a young, interdisciplinary team in a centre with high international visibility. The research plan is highly flexible and the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop and follow his/her own ideas and interests. The position is funded for a maximum of 5 years.

How to apply

If you are interested in joining a multidisciplinary research centre at the cutting edge of experimental psychology, please send a cover letter, your curriculum vitae, and the name and contact information for one person who can provide reference (usually the supervisor of your masters thesis) to marc.schoenwiesner@umontreal.ca

The position will remain open until filled.
