Biography:
Hauke Egermann studied Systematic Musicology, Media Science, and Communication Studies in the Magister Artium program at the Hanover University of Music and Drama. He received his M.A. in 2006 by conducting an online study on the emotional effects of music. Subsequently he completed the PhD program at the Hanover Center of Systemic Neurosciences, writing a dissertation on social influences on musically induced emotion using psychophysiological methods. During his Master’s and PhD studies he was employed as Research Assistant at the Institute of Music Physiology and Musicians’ Medicine. In parallel he has also done freelance work for different research and consulting companies, investigating marketing strategies. He received his Ph.D. in November 2009. Since December 2009 he is Postdoctoral Fellow at the Schulich School of Music, McGill University working with Stephen McAdams on emotion induction by music using behavioral and psychophysiological techniques.
