Montreal hosts a huge community of students doing research in music perception and cognition. Yet, opportunities of interaction between students from different institutions, departments, and main research fields are unfortunately insufficient. We are therefore proud to announce that CIRMMT and BRAMS recently started a Music Perception and Cognition Student Colloquium series. Its second venue will take place at CIRMMT, on April 9th 2009.
Colloquia will be held on a monthly basis on Thursday evenings, between 4pm and 6pm. Students will present papers and each presentation will be followed by a question period. These meetings are invaluable opportunities for establishing contacts with colleagues from neurosciences, psychology, musicology and music theory as well as for obtaining feedback on your own work.
If you are interested in presenting your work to a forthcoming Music Perception and Cognition Student Colloquia, please contact Michel Vallieres (McGill University) or Sean Hutchins (Université de Montréal).
Students presenting on April 9th, 2009:
- Pascale Lidji, Post-doctoral fellow, McGill University
"Speaking, Singing, and Observing: A TMS Study"
- Steven Livingstone, Post-doctoral fellow, McGill University
"Changing Musical Emotion through Score and Performance with a Computational Rule System"
