Learn how to create random and pseudo-random stimulus lists, how to use functions, how to work with pivot tables, and how to coordinate Excel with other programs, such as SPSS and e-prime.
Dr. Sean Hutchins, a post-doctoral fellow at BRAMS, Université de Montréal, will be presenting a 1.5 hour Interactive workshop on advanced uses of Excel for research purposes. This workshop will be held on Friday, July 8 at 1:00 in the BRAMS meeting room.
We will cover some basic tips and tricks on how to use Excel more efficiently, and will learn how to create random and pseudo-random stimulus lists, how to use functions, how to work with pivot tables, and how to coordinate Excel with other programs, such as SPSS and e-prime. We will also cover principles such as how to organize and code data optimally.
The workshop will use a sample experiment to walk through many different steps of research design and analysis, and participants will work on their own computers along with the instructor. Dr. Hutchins will also be available for questions following the workshop.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Please bring a laptop with Microsoft Excel (preferably 2007), or plan on sharing with another. For those without a laptop who wish to attend, the work will be presented by projector as well. A set of files to work from will be sent out to registered attendees the day before.
This event is primarily aimed at BRAMS Students and postdoctoral fellows, who are welcome to register by clicking on the below link.
If you are not affiliated to BRAMS, but would be interested to attend this workshop, please contact Sean Hutchins directly.
