Cortical and subcortical areas work together to extract information from sounds, and learn how to make the process more effective. Magnetoencephalography (MEG) can reveal various processes which quickly happens in auditory cortex and beyond. In this talk, I will address the musical training effects in encoding tones and polyphonic sounds, and the auditory-motor interaction indexed by neural oscillatory activities in encoding musical beats.
