To what extent do physical and visual cues affect musical collaborators’ feelings of being together and the success of their joint performance? A study of 30 piano-and-saxophone jazz duos compares their coordinated performance and their feelings of copresence in the same physical space, in two separate spaces but connected via video and audio, and in two separate spaces connected via audio only.
