LAST CALL – Erasmus Mundus Student Exchange Network in Auditory Cognitive Neuroscience (ACN)  http://research.uni-leipzig.de/acn

The last call for application of the ACN Student Exchange Network is about to open. The network provides generous financial awards to graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and staff members for exchanges between our world-class partner universities in Europe and North America.

The network supports research in the fields of auditory cognition, speech and music perception, and neuroaesthetics. Exchange students use state of the art methods in behavioural psychology, electrophysiology, and neuroimaging. We offer the unique opportunity to work with leading experts in these areas at top universities and institutes. Our main goal is to promote international exchange and excellent post-graduate qualification opportunities.

PhD students and Postdocs are asked to submit their application online from September 30th until December 1st, 2015. Early application will allow a start of the exchange as early as November 1st, 2015. All exchanges must start before the end of 2016.

Stipends

Awards include a monthly stipend of 1 500 EUR (doctoral level), 1800 EUR (postdoctoral level), or 2500 EUR (PIs and staff), and a one-time lump sum of 2000 EUR or 1500 EUR for travel expenses (depending on the distance).

Duration

Student fellowships are awarded for 6 months or longer at one of the partner locations across the Atlantic (example: if you want to go to Canada you must have European Union citizenship and vice versa). Exchanges at the PhD and postdoc level of shorter duration than six months are not eligible for funding. If, however, a student wants to go for a 9-month exchange, it will be possible to split this period into two parts of 6 and 3 months. In such cases, the first trip may not be shorter than six months. However, the lump sum for traveling expenses will be only awarded once.

Eligibility & Guidelines

PhD students, postdocs and scientific staff members at all partner institutions are eligible to apply. Students are expected to conduct research with scientists at any member institution. Nationality is important: Applicants with European citizenship may apply for exchanges with North America and applicants with American or Canadian citizenship may apply for exchanges with European institutions.
